What is Mend?
Mend is a 90-day heartbreak recovery app. It walks you through six emotional phases with AI companions, daily journaling, check-ins, and guided tasks designed to help you process and move forward at your own pace.
Mend is not therapy, counselling, or a medical service. It is a self-guided emotional wellness tool. The AI companions are not therapists and do not provide clinical advice of any kind.
Who are the AI companions?
Each phase of your journey is guided by a different character with a unique personality. They listen, reflect, and gently encourage — like a caring friend, not a professional.
In Phase 6 — The Glow — you build your own YOU character to represent the person you've become. You can share it with friends.
Does Mend replace therapy?
No. Mend is not a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified therapist or counsellor. Mend is designed as a daily companion for emotional processing — it does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe.
What happens if I'm in crisis?
If you express thoughts of self-harm or suicide during a conversation, the AI companion will pause the chat and direct you to a crisis helpline appropriate for your region.

The companion will not continue the conversation until you confirm you are safe. This safeguarding behaviour cannot be bypassed.
Is my data private?
- Your journal entries, check-ins, and chat messages are encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+).
- Chat messages are processed in real time and are not permanently stored after the session.
- We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, or health data.
- We are GDPR and UK Data Protection Act compliant.

How does the free trial work?
- Phase 1 with Luna is free for 7 days.
- After 7 days, you can unlock the full 90-day journey with a one-time purchase.
- There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.
- Individual characters can also be unlocked separately.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Contact them directly through your purchase history. King Chi Ltd does not process payments directly.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data (journal entries, progress, avatar) within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
What age do I need to be?
You must be at least 16 years old to use Mend.
